One of my friends was asking me what we do with all of our candy afterwards and I thought it would be a great post to share. Here are some ideas for how to use it up or get rid of it quickly
Bring it to a Halloween Candy buy back event
In my hometown a local Dentist sponsors a fundraiser to buy candy by the pound and send it to the troops overseas. He pays one dollar for every pound he gets. Find a local event near you at this site: http://www.halloweencandybuyback.com/
Bake it into Cookies
We like to take a regular chocolate chip cookie recipe and crush up our favorite candy in place of the chocolate chips. Consider searching for recipes online with the specific candies that you have on hand.
Use it with Ice Cream
We like to use the candy as toppings on ice cream. We also use it to make a simple icebox cake out of ice cream sandwiches. Layer ice cream sandwiches on the bottom of a baking pan. Spread Cool Whip over the top and drizzle caramel, chocolate sauce and sprinkle the candy all over it. Freeze it with wax paper and you have a delicious ice cream cake.
